Impacted Canines

Maxillary upper canines (eye teeth) are commonly impacted requiring surgical uncovering so that your orthodontist can use braces to help them erupt. Canines not erupting naturally can be caused by a delay in baby teeth falling out, crowding of teeth, or the presence of extra teeth. Since canines play a major role in facial support and proper smile alignment, exposing and bracketing them will allow those teeth to erupt over time into their normal positions.
